ABOUT THE PODCAST:

In September 2020, Adam Paul Cordle, Blaire Koerner, and Rosanna Moore launched the Soundweavers podcast as a forum for exploring the issues surrounding small ensemble musicianship. Our background as freelance and chamber musicians led us to identify three essential components of making a career as a small ensemble musician. First, we explore how major artists hone and share their craft through performance, composition, and improvisation. We delve into each guest’s educational and community engagement initiatives and the ways in which they are grappling with the social justice issues within the musical world and beyond. Finally, we examine the life skills that each of our guests have perfected on their journey through launching, developing, and sustaining their careers.

Each season features twenty-five episodes split into five cycles. Within each cycle, we feature one composer and three ensembles or freelance chamber musicians from classical, jazz, folk, traditional, and fusion genres. Every episode focuses on the music itself, the many ways in which artists are sharing their music, the work that our guests are doing to enhance their communities, and the strategies they’ve used to manage their successes. At the conclusion of each cycle, we host a cast chat, summarizing the general themes of the past cycle, addressing current events and issues, and previewing the next cycle. Each new episode is published every two weeks via Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, and most other major podcast platforms.

He studied music formally at the Eastman School of Music (BM, 2013) and the University of Pennsylvania, and is a practitioner of Balinese gamelan gong kebyar. His music has been described as light and dance-like, featuring a strong sense of melodic line, clear pitch centricity, a poetic sense of form, and a unique approach to harmony inspired from jazz. Currently, he is working on a commission from the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra for their 2023 spring concert, and is planning a new scenic cantata for the Rochester based ensemble fivebyfive to premier in 2024.
